My Daughter (22) and I (45) want to take a weekend Vacation?
We live in the thumb of MIchigan and need some time away from the kids and hubby's. Any Ideas on what might be fun for her and fun for me also? We don't want to leave Michigan, just want to find some fun here, but everything seems to be closed for the season.

A: This is not within your parameters, but I took my Mom on a weekend trip from Ohio to Manhattan for Mothers Day a few years ago and we had a blast.
We got a roomette on an Amtrak train and got to New York Friday evening. I found a reasonably priced hotel for a couple days.
There are double decker buses that go all over Manhattan and I think it was $30 or $60 for the whole weekend. It is a guided tour, but as long as you have your tickets you can hop on and hop off any time you find something you want to see or do. there is another bus about every ten to fifteen minutes. The ticket also included a boat ride out to the Statue of Liberty or Ellis Island.
we got back in the early hours of Monday morning. the roomettes have bunk beds that fold up in the day time so we slept most of the way home.
The train was great. good food and lots of really interesting people to talk with.
My Mom still talks about it
sorry about not knowing what to do to keep you in Michigan
A: go to luna pier...its my favorite vacation spot in michigan, nothing fancy just a small town can walk the whole thing in an hour or so...just relax on the beach and watch the waves
