Can any Texans give me information on the I-45 murders?
I watched a show on this a couple of months ago, I just started thinking about it again, recently I mean 30 odd girls murdered and not one break through? That's insane!!! What's it like living in that area, if you are a girl or have a daughter?
A-Best: Are you talking about the "Killing Field" off of Calder Rd. in League City? Four women were found there & all cases are unsolved.
A: I heard of that. The murders occurred in the area of I-45 north of houston. They occurred over a long period of time. The idea that they are connected as part of mass murder by one person is just a theory. A theory that makes a good TV show. Most people that live in the area are not aware of this, never heard of the murders, and never think about it.
A: i live in spring, tx a little north of 1-45 and south of the woodlands, i've never heard of any murders in the area. this is news to me, but thanks for mentioning it i'd like to know if poeple are getting murdered nearby me
A: The first answerer (Texas Happy Horn) must live in a bubble. I-45 certainly is called i-45 all the way down. And it is not an urban legend. Unless she wants to tell that to the families of the women found in Galveston, Texas City, La Marque, etc., she needs to close her mouth and start reading the newspaper.
Just a start of the many links out there concerning these crimes:

EVEN THE UK HAS HEARD OF THESE CRIMES: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/525273.stm
Women and young girls have been found off of roads connecting to i-45 since before I was born. (Let's just say thirty plus years.) My grandmother's best friend still has not found her daughter's killer. I bet little miss.informed texas answerer would not like the response that that woman would give her. Her daughter was no urban legend.
There are more than 30 people missing/murdered. And no doubt, more than one killer. Just this year they found three women on the side of the road in sleeping bags or blankets and duct tape (dead of course).
Just type in i-45 murders. Or serial killers loose in texas. Or missing women/girls in texas. Or prostitutes murdered in texas. The list goes on. And check out http://texasequusearch.org/, Tim Miller's daughter was no urban legend. She was a child brutally murdered in Texas. Something your first answerer has no clue about.
The killing fields on Calder Road are no legend. Shelly Sikes was not a legend. The list goes on. And so does the pain and hurt. And that is no legend.
EDITED TO ADD:
Some people need to expand their worlds to include others. There are many Houstonians who call I-45 just that. But then I only spend two weeks a month in Houston, what would I know? I must have googled it? No, I lived a life full of the real world, beauty and the pain it includes. And the fact that a mother would live in Texas unaware of what goes on is scary. I feel worried for those children. May God protect them. And keep them safe. Their mother does not know the dangers in this world. Or chooses to ignore them.
Almost every newspaper and station in the great state of Texas has featured missing and dead women. And those women were abducted and/or found on roads right of of 45. And it goes all the way to the shores of the Beach in Galveston, in case she ever wants to actually join the world.
A: 30? Never heard of it.
I've lived here since the 70s. This is news to me.
A: Never heard of it. But the person who thinks I 45 isn't called I 45 until we are north of Conroe is sadly mistaken. I challenge her to find "Gulf Freeway" or "North Freeway" on a highway or city map. Isn't going to happen. Both of those are simply names that locals use and sometimes the post office to designate what part of I 45 one is talking about.
I 45 starts in Galveston and ends in Dallas, where it returns to the former Hwy 75 all the way to the Red River.
Where on I 45 did this happen? And when?

I dont understand how people doesnt know about it. More than 30 women were murdered and the case remains unsolved.
It is called the mistery of i-45:

A: I'm surprised that so many people haven't heard of this. I moved to the Houston area about 6 years ago, and it was one of the first things I heard about. I live in Galveston now, and from what I hear from people, it was a huge scary deal for a while. It's not like every time you walk out of your house, you think about those crimes though. Crazy stuff happens all the time everywhere. You just have to be aware of your surroundings and not live in fear.
A: damn now i have to move!
A: Fact is that you need to practice good safety no matter where you live. PAY ATTENTION to your surroundings and to your 6th sense. You may not understand WHY your getting a bad feeling or something is telling you NOT to do something or go somewhere, BUT you need to LISTEN to it. Your 6th sense will save your life and you may never know it. Your subconscious picks up on clues and non-verbal acts as well as things you don't perceive consciously like it is too quite or the odd thing out of place. Sometimes it will never be determined what told you to NOT go to a party or stop at the gas station. But it can save your life.
Now if you think that there is a danger living in that area I would warn you that the chances of you being a victim of this particular serial killer is remote. First you have some 2 million people in the area and 30 victims. You have had years and years since the last victim. Your more likely to be hit by a car then be the victim of this serial killer. So look both ways before crossing the street.
A quick story told to me by convenience store clerk: Halloween had past but the decoration on the floor of the outline of body had remained on the floor. A man with a hood above his head began to enter and looked down at the floor and asked "what is that" knowing this man was about to rob him the clerk said "that's the last guy who tried to rob this store". The man turned around and walked out minutes later another store down the street was robbed and the clerk shot.
